If you’re a makeup artist then you probably recognize this lovely face. Julie Bégin is an international makeup artist who has worked with major fashion designers, celebrities, and magazines. If you’re a fan of Cirque de Soleil OVO then you have definitely seen her work. She contributed creations for 50 insect-inspired characters! I first fell in love with Julie’s Annabelle Cosmetics work flipping through my favourite fashion mags.

Julie will be holding her highly sought-after pro master classes in Toronto this Saturday, April 6! I am truly bummed out that I will not be able to attend, but if you’re available and serious about makeup artistry this is a must-attend! Please click on this link for information and to reserve your seat.

Although I won’t be able to attend, I’m super stoked to chat with her on the phone next week! Stay tuned!

Event: L’Oreal Luxe Beauty Blogger Holiday Party

I’m really lucky to know so many wonderful people in the beauty world. When I entered the beauty blogging world almost 6 years ago, I didn’t know what it would mean for my life. I’m very thankful that I get to test out products for free, blog about them, and get invited to swanky events. I have a healthy addiction to products, but that’s not why I blog. I really do love to write and connect with other beauty fanatics.

What do you get when you put a group of beauty bloggers in one room? A bunch of lushes who pose endlessly in front of a camera, hilarious photos, and giddy excitement and squeals over products. PR powerhouses and sweeties, Isabelle and Kristina, hosted a beauty blogger holiday party on behalf of L’Oreal’s Luxe brands like YSL, Giorgio Armani, Shu Uemura, Biotherm, and Victor & Rolf. This event was the first time in almost 2 years that I’ve attended one. I made a point to make it out for this one because Isabelle and Kristina have been amazing and I finally wanted to put faces to their lovely names! Plus, I got to hang out with some of my favourite beauty bloggers and friends some I haven’t seen in years!

Reviews to come of the amazing products that we received – all I can say is that these holiday collections are a must-have. It was some serious swag! I’m so forever grateful!! Check out pictures from the party courtesy of L’Oreal and my Crackberry. Thanks again for one of the most fun events I’ve been to!

Events: IMATS Toronto!

The event of the year for makeup enthusiasts in Toronto is fast approaching! If you haven’t heard about IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) Toronto, here is all the info you need to know. Open to everyone!
What: IMATS Toronto
When: November 17 (8:30 am – 5 pm) & 18 (10 am – 5 pm)
Location: The Toronto Congress Center North Hall
650 Dixon Rd
For me, it’s time to restock the kit with some makeup must-haves. Check out my shopping list!

1. bdellium Brushes: I discovered this brand at last year’s IMATS and now I can’t get enough. A while ago I sadly lost my face makeup brushes – devastating for a makeup artist! I bought some cheapie brushes to hold me over until this year’s IMATS. Can’t wait to restock with some new bdellium brushes! For past reviews click here.
2. yaby: I took advantage of yaby’s pop-up sale in Toronto and fell in love with their shadows, highlighters, and custom palettes! Now I want to pick up a couple of blushes in peachy pink and baby doll pink.
3. OCC Lip Tars: I will be surprised if I can get the shades I want. OCC is a popular booth at IMATS. I’m hoping to pick up some bridal friendly shades and a couple of shocking shades for fashion work. Fingers crossed!
4. Nigel Beauty Emporium: This is a must-visit booth for cheap deals on lashes and mascara wands! For past reviews click here.
I am also hoping to catch Lottie’s workshop on working in fashion. I look forward to seeing some old friends! Stay tuned for my IMATS haul!
What’s on your IMATS shopping list?

Events: Oceana Ball 2012

Photo: George Whiteside, Hair/MU: Jackie Gideon

UPDATE: I had the honour of doing makeup on Brittney Kuczynski, who is the Founding Chair and Editor-in-Chief of the Oceana Ball and Oceana Magazine. She is an inspiring woman making a difference in this world all in her 4 inch heels! Brittney is stunning naturally and looked beautiful at the ball. I will update with photos from the event soon!
I’m really privileged to be apart of a stellar hair and makeup team in Toronto that supports important causes like the Herbie Fund For SickKids. I along with celebrity makeup artist Jackie Gideon, who is also Co-Chair and Creative Producer, and her team will be volunteering our time for the Oceana Ball this Friday, October 12.

About: Oceana Ball is a not-for-profit event in support of the Herbie Fund. The Herbie fund has been raising funds for the past 30 years to provide financial aid to children around the world with terminal illness to be treated at the hospital for Sickkids.

Event: This lavish evening will be the opening of an exhibition of images created by the very best of the Canadian fashion industry top designers, models and artists. A treat for all the senses, the Oceana Ball will also include an extraordinary gourmet experience, live entertainment, special guests and dancing into the night.

If you read my blog often, then you know that SickKids hospital is very near and dear to my heart. My youngest son was admitted to SickKids shortly after he was born where he underwent surgery that saved his life!
If you’d like to attend or donate purchase tickets here (they are almost sold out!): http://oceanaball4.eventbrite.com/?ebtv=C
